[4001] KdoLib: Error opening database... error: 0 - The client and server cannot communicate because they do not possess a common algorithm

Problem:

Kofax Capture modules are unable to open with the following error:

[4001] KdoLib: Error opening database. A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm.) (-21468930077)

Solution:

Generally, the issue is due to a mismatch in the Security Schannels and/or cipher suites that are enabled on the server verses the workstation. An easy way to review what security protocols have been enabled is to use IISCRYPTO by Nartac Software.

Download IISCRYPTO on both environments and compare the differences. You can enable or disable a certain protocol to match the primary server by checking or unchecking the server/client protocol, ciphers... etc that you want to use:

Note: A restart will be required to apply any of the changes. Kofax Capture supports TLS 1.0 - 1.2. We have seen issues where TLS 1.3 had been enabled causing issues.
