      DBUtil error 7001: Unable to connect to the remote server.

      When trying to migrate Kofax Database using DBUtil. After clicking on start. DBUtil will freeze and eventually get the following popup.

      Most likely this issue is due to your server having the KCN service installed. You can confirm that by looking at Services.msc and look for Kofax Capture Service.


      Instead of the Description saying "Batch Notification Service, licensing service" It should say "Kofax Capture Network Service"

      Resolve:


      1. Remove KCN Service - To remove the KCN Service from a computer, you need to stop it. After stopping the KCN Service, you cannot use it again until it is restarted. To remove the KCN Service, run the following from the command line: \CaptureSS\ServerLib\Bin\aciscfg.exe /d


      2. You should be able to migrate databases using DBUtil.exe now.


      3. After Migration is done. Re-install the KCN Service by running the following from the command line: \CaptureSS\ServerLib\Bin\aciscfg.exe


      4. Test that everything is working as it should.
