      Error Message "You must reboot your system to continue the Capture installation" When Installing Kofax Capture

      Issue:


      How do I resolve a message or error similar to the following:


      "Reboot Pending: you must reboot your system to continue the Capture Installation"


      while attempting to install Kofax Capture


      Resolve:



      1. Create a complete backup of your system.
      2. Locate the Following Registry Key:
        • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
      1. Delete any PendingFileRenameOperations Values in this Key.
      2. Reattempt the installation of Kofax Capture

      If that does not resolve the issue try the following:


      Check for and remove Pending File Rename Operations in the following Registry Keys:

      1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
      2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx
      3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce
      4. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

      Either

      • Clear out the TEMP and TMP folders specified in the User Environment Variables
      • Change the User's TEMPT and TMP Environment Variables to point to a new (empty) temp folder with full permission.\
      • Check for the existence of a folder named '$!$!$!$!" in the root folder
