Scan stays running in the background after closing out from the scan module.

Problem:

When a user completes scanning and closed out of the scan module. They get the following error when they try to scan a new batch: Scan is already running on this workstation. Only one instance is allowed.

 

Solution:

It was found that windows Virus & Threat protection settings - Real-time protection was causing scan to stay running in the background:

 

You will need to work with your windows administrators and/or IT Security team about adding exclusions for the scan.exe module. NOTE: If you are on a VRS versions 5.3.0.0 - 5.3.0.2. There is a known bug that causes this issue as well. Please update your VRS version to 5.3.0.3 or Higher. You can find the latest VRS fix packs here
