Kofax Capture Administration Module Crashes When You Try To Edit or Create New .NET Scripts.

Issue:

Kofax Capture administration module crashes when you try and edit or create new .net scripts.

This is most likely due to having an unsupported Visual Studio version installed.

There is a bug where Admin.exe will crash when you install an unsupported version of visual studio, which causes Admin to go into a non-responding status or crashes.

Solution:

If you are on KC 11.1.0:

Update Kofax Capture 11.1 to the latest version: KC 11.1 with Service Pack 1 (Final version of KC should show KC 11.1.1.0.x

If you are on KC 11.0.1.3 or below:

Update Kofax Capture 11.0.1.x to the latest fixpack. KC 11.0.1.4 or upgrade to KC 11.1.1.0.x

---

If you are unable to apply the fixes, use the following shell command to uninstall Visual Studio.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\InstallCleanup.exe"

You can then re-install using a supported version of Visual Studio.

Note: This will uninstall all visual studio installations.

Additional Notes: It looks to be that the latest version of Visual Studio 2017 will cause Kofax Capture Version 11.0 to crash. You need to replace the following file: Microsoft.VisualStudio.Setup.Configuration.Native.dll located at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Setup\x86 with an older version. Download DLL: Microsoft.VisualStudio.Setup.Configuration.Native.dll
