Unable to activate Kofax VRS Server license

Version: VRS Server 5.1.2

Issue:

Receive an error "unable to activate Kofax VRS server license" after installing the VRS Server. The Kofax VRS Repository Service and the Kofax License Service service have not been created. The Kofax License utility 'activate' is greyed out.

Resolution:

Windows API GetShortPathName on Windows Server 2016 with latest updates has changed its behavior. It did not return the correct value while shortening the path with spaces. Therefore, VRS Installer could not install Kofax VRS Repository Service, as well as Kofax License Service services.
